Coming home to Cebu for dental implants: how to plan the visits

By Dr. Kirsten Socito-Cuizon, DMD · October 24, 2026 · 4 min read

Many of our patients live abroad or in another part of the Philippines and come home to Cebu for dental work. A dental implant fits that pattern, with one condition: it is done in two stages a few months apart, so you either plan two trips or one longer stay. With a little preparation, the first trip can include the consultation, any extraction or graft and the implant placement, and the second trip is the crown.

How many trips does a dental implant take?

Usually two. Trip one is the assessment, the written plan and, if you agree, the implant placement, which together can fit into one to two weeks. The implant then bonds with the bone over about three to six months while you are away. Trip two is for the crown: an impression or scan, then the fitting, usually within one to two weeks. If a tooth has to be removed and left to heal, or bone has to be grafted first, a third visit may be needed, and your plan will say so before you book flights.

Can it be done in a single trip?

Sometimes, if you can stay for the healing period, or if your case suits an implant with a temporary crown fitted on the same day. That depends on your bone and the position of the tooth, and only the assessment can confirm it. Do not plan a single trip around a same-day result until your dentist has told you it suits your case.

What should I send before I fly?

  • A summary of your medical history and a list of medicines.
  • Any recent dental X-rays or scans you already have; your dentist here can usually use them to plan.
  • A photo of the area if you like, taken on your phone in good light.
  • Your travel dates, so the clinic can hold appointment slots that fit.

With this in hand, your first visit in Cebu is a planning visit rather than a fact-finding one, and the written plan can be ready for you to decide on quickly.

How soon after placement can I fly?

Most people can fly a few days after a routine implant placement. Flying does not affect the implant, but the first two or three days are when swelling and soreness peak, so give yourself that time near the clinic in case anything needs checking. Your dentist will give you a specific guide for your own case.

How do I care for the implant while I am away?

Healing happens on its own. Keep the area clean as instructed, keep your regular dental checkups wherever you live, and let the clinic know about anything unusual. If you are far away, a photo and a message are enough for most questions, and your dentist can tell you whether to see a local dentist.

Where is Ivory Premier, and how do I get there from the airport?

Ivory Premier is at Unit R2, 2F The Retail Bloc, Casa Mira Towers, Marciano Quizon St., Alang-alang, Mandaue City. From Mactan-Cebu International Airport it is about 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or ride-hailing outside rush hour, across the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. Casa Mira Towers is a known landmark for drivers. Mandaue sits between Mactan and Cebu City, so it is convenient whether you are staying in either. See Visit & Contact for directions and the map once our pin is live.

What should I know about the clinic before I come?

Ivory Premier is a dental and medical aesthetics clinic led by Dr. Kirsten Socito-Cuizon, DMD, and Dr. Kim Cuizon, MD. Dental implants are our main focus. We do not publish prices; you receive a written plan with each item and its cost after the consultation, and you can take it home to think about. The clinic opens in late 2026, and consultation requests are being taken now.
